Surgeons generally look for a stable weight for at least 6–12 months, a BMI below 30 for most body procedures, well-controlled chronic conditions, and realistic expectations discussed openly beforehand. Most surgeons therefore ask patients to avoid all nicotine for at least four to six weeks before and after the operation.

Treat these as warning signs: unusually cheap “all-inclusive” packages, guaranteed results, refusal to name the surgeon, pressure to pay quickly, or a package with no aftercare included. Cheap becomes expensive when a revision is required.
