When the nose is especially demanding
A revision rhinoplasty is a second operation after a previous one, or corrects pronounced deformities, noses after accidents, or those with significant breathing obstruction. These cases are technically harder and require particular experience.
Why revisions are harder
After a previous operation the cartilage and soft tissue are altered, scarred and less predictable. Supporting cartilage is often missing, so grafts (from the septum, ear or rib) become necessary. The revision rate is accordingly higher – around 11% – and the result harder to guarantee.
Function often to the fore
In complex cases, breathing often ranks equally with aesthetics. Thorough diagnosis (including the septum and nasal valve) is essential. Focusing only on appearance risks a nose that looks good but breathes poorly.
Expectation and healing

When supporting cartilage is missing, it is taken from the body: the septum (if still available), the ear cartilage, or – for larger needs – a rib.
