How Botox works
Botulinum toxin (“Botox”) relaxes the muscles that cause expression lines – mainly forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet. It smooths lines caused by movement; it does not act on resting lines or volume loss (fillers are used for those).
Effect, duration, naturalness
The effect starts after a few days and usually lasts 3–4 months, then wears off. Correctly dosed, natural expression is preserved – a “frozen” face is a sign of overdosing, not of good Botox. An experienced injector doses individually and conservatively.
Also functional uses
Botulinum toxin is also used medically – for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), teeth grinding (via the masseter muscle) or migraine. These uses belong in medical hands just like the aesthetic ones.
Safety
