Full coverage for advanced hair loss — what 6000 grafts realistically achieves, how it is planned, and what it costs in Turkey.
A 6000 grafts hair transplant is one of the largest restorations performed, designed for men with advanced hair loss — typically Norwood 5, 6 or 7. At roughly 2.2 hairs per graft, 6000 grafts means around 12,000–14,000 individual hairs, enough to rebuild the hairline, mid-scalp and much of the crown in most patients.
Because very few people can safely give 6000 grafts in a single day, this is almost always planned as two sessions. Understanding how that planning works is the difference between a dense, natural result and an over-harvested donor area.

Surgeons divide the scalp into zones: the hairline and frontal band, the mid-scalp, and the crown (vertex). A typical 6000-graft distribution looks like 1,500–1,800 grafts for the hairline, 2,000–2,400 for the mid-scalp and 1,800–2,200 for the crown, though the exact split depends on your head size, hair calibre and loss pattern.
Thicker, wavy hair and a lower contrast between hair and skin colour make 6000 grafts look denser; fine, straight, dark hair on pale skin may need more strategic placement. If you are unsure how many grafts your pattern needs, start with our guide on how many grafts a hair transplant needs.
Rarely — and you should be cautious of any clinic that promises it routinely. A safe single mega-session usually tops out around 4,000–4,500 grafts, limited by how much the donor area can give without visible thinning, and by how long grafts can safely survive outside the body.
The standard plan for 6000 grafts is two sessions: the first (3,000–4,000 grafts) rebuilds the hairline and mid-scalp; the second (2,000–3,000 grafts), scheduled 8–12 months later, completes the crown and adds density. Splitting the work protects the donor zone and lets the surgeon judge how the first pass has grown before finishing the design.
A 5000 grafts hair transplant covers Norwood 5–6 with some compromise on crown density. 6000 grafts adds meaningful crown coverage or extra density in the frontal zone. Beyond that, claims of 7000–8000 grafts in one trip should be examined carefully — as we explain in our article on 8000-graft promises, numbers above the donor’s safe capacity often mean split hairs counted as grafts, or an over-harvested donor.
The honest ceiling is set by your donor area, not by marketing. A lifetime donor capacity of 6,000–8,000 grafts is typical; using it wisely matters more than using it all.

In Turkey, a 6000-graft plan (two sessions) is usually priced as a package: €3,500–€6,500 in total depending on technique (FUE or DHI), clinic tier and what is included. The same work costs £15,000–£30,000 in the UK and $25,000–$50,000 in the US, which is why large-session patients travel most.
At EsteGo, packages include the operation, VIP transfers, hotel, medication, PRP support and 12 months of follow-up. See the full breakdown in our hair transplant cost guide.
After each session the transplanted hair sheds within 2–6 weeks (shock loss), starts regrowing from month 3–4, and shows real density from month 6. The final result of a two-session 6000-graft plan is judged about 12 months after the second session — so the complete transformation takes 18–24 months from your first operation. Month-by-month expectations are covered in our growth timeline guide.
Yes — when it is staged properly, extraction is spread evenly, and the surgical team is experienced with mega-sessions. The risks appear when clinics chase the number: over-harvesting leaves permanent visible thinning at the back, and marathon single sessions increase graft death from time outside the body. Ask any clinic how they will protect your donor area, how many grafts per session, and who actually performs the extractions.
A 6000 grafts hair transplant is a high-volume restoration reserved for advanced hair loss with a strong donor area. Most patients complete a 6000 grafts hair transplant over two carefully planned sessions. At EsteGo Clinic Istanbul, every 6000 grafts hair transplant starts with a detailed donor capacity assessment.
Our surgical team follows the graft handling and donor safety standards published by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS).
