Find the shade that brightens your smile without looking fake — chosen with your skin tone, your age and a digital try-in.
Most patients at EsteGo Clinic choose BL2 or BL3 veneer shades — bright enough to visibly transform a smile, yet natural enough to look convincing in daylight and in photos. The brightest option on the chart, BL1, suits only a minority of faces.
This guide explains how the two shade scales work, how dentists match a shade to your skin tone and eye whites, why the colour you pick is permanent, and how a digital try-in lets you preview the result before anything is cemented.

Veneer shades are described on two different scales. The bleach scale runs from BL1 to BL4 and covers whites that natural enamel almost never reaches: BL1 is the brightest, near paper-white tone, BL2 is one step softer, and BL3 and BL4 shade gradually towards a luminous natural white. These are the colours most people mean when they talk about a Hollywood smile.
The second system is the Vita classical scale used in everyday dentistry, with groups A to D — A1, A2, B1 and so on. B1 and A1 are the lightest genuinely natural tooth colours; a healthy, well-maintained young smile typically sits between A1 and A2. Choosing between the scales is really a choice between a clearly enhanced white and an idealised natural one.
There is no single best colour — the most flattering veneer shades are selected against your own features. Fair skin tends to be overpowered by BL1, while darker or olive skin creates contrast that lets brighter shades look striking rather than artificial. A useful clinical reference is the white of your eyes: teeth noticeably whiter than your sclera almost always read as fake, which is why our dentists hold shade tabs next to your eyes and lips in natural light before recommending anything.
Age matters too. Natural teeth darken over the decades, so a 60-year-old with BL1 veneers signals dental work immediately, whereas BL3 or B1 restores the brightness of youth believably. The number of teeth being treated is just as important: if you are veneering 8 to 10 teeth in each visible arch, as in most veneer treatments in Turkey, the whole smile changes together and a brighter shade stays harmonious. If only two or four teeth are veneered, the shade must be matched closely to the neighbouring enamel.
BL1 contains very little of the yellow-grey pigment that gives natural enamel its depth, so under flash photography and harsh indoor lighting it can appear flat, opaque and blue-white. Cameras exaggerate this: a shade that looks acceptable in the mirror can glow unnaturally in pictures, which matters if the whole point of your Hollywood smile in Turkey is to look great on camera.
That is why BL2 and BL3 are the most frequently chosen veneer shades at EsteGo Clinic: they keep the wow factor while preserving the subtle translucency that makes porcelain read as real teeth. Patients who want maximum brightness usually do best with BL2 on high-quality layered ceramic rather than jumping to BL1.

You never have to commit blind. With digital smile design, we photograph your face, simulate different veneer shades on screen and then fit a temporary mock-up over your teeth so you can judge the colour in real light, in your own mirror and in selfies. Only after you approve the shade are the final E-max veneers milled and layered by the laboratory.
During the try-in appointment the ceramist can still fine-tune value and translucency with try-in pastes, so the tone you approved is the tone that gets bonded. This step is standard in every EsteGo smile package — it is the single most effective insurance against regret.
Porcelain does not respond to bleaching gels: whatever colour is cemented is the colour you keep for the 10 to 15 year life of the restoration. That is why sequencing matters. If your lower teeth or molars will stay natural, we complete professional teeth whitening first, let the colour stabilise for about two weeks, and only then match the veneer shade to the freshly whitened enamel. Reversing the order leaves veneers that look dull next to later-whitened neighbours. Independent patient guides such as the American Dental Association patient resources confirm that veneers, unlike enamel, cannot be lightened after placement.
One reassuring point on budget: the shade you pick has no effect on price. At EsteGo Clinic in Mecidiyeköy, Istanbul, E-max veneers cost around €180–€250 per tooth in every colour, compared with roughly £600–£1,000 in the UK or $900–$2,500 in the US. With 15+ years of experience and more than 40,000 patients from 47+ countries, our packages include VIP transfers, hotel accommodation, medication and 12-month follow-up — whichever of the veneer shades you choose.
