Implant and temporary tooth placed in a single session in suitable cases.
In suitable cases, an implant can be placed immediately after extraction and fitted with a temporary tooth the same day.

Good bone and healthy gums are required. Your dentist assesses this during planning. See all implant options.
Fewer visits and immediate aesthetics, though final crowns still follow after healing.
An immediate implant is placed into the socket at the same appointment the tooth is removed. It shortens overall treatment, spares you a second surgery, and — importantly — helps preserve the bone and gum architecture before they collapse.
It is not the same as immediate loading, which means putting a temporary crown on it the same day. The two are frequently confused, including by clinics.
An intact socket wall, particularly the thin buccal plate at the front. No active infection at the root tip. Sufficient bone beyond the socket to achieve firm primary stability. Healthy soft tissue, non-smoker, controlled general health.
Where the socket wall is missing, or infection is present, the honest sequence is extraction, graft, heal, then implant — slower, and considerably more predictable. See bone grafting.
Gains: fewer surgeries, less total time, better preservation of the gum contour at the front.
Risks: slightly higher early failure than a delayed implant if primary stability is inadequate; and at the front, recession of the gum margin — the aesthetic complication that is hardest to correct afterwards.
The socket is wider than the implant, so the gap is grafted at the same appointment. This is a technique-sensitive procedure and its outcome tracks the surgeon closely.
Immediate placement: implant inserted on extraction day. Healing still requires 3–6 months before the final crown.
Immediate loading: a temporary crown fitted the same day, kept out of the bite. The permanent crown still waits for osseointegration.
Neither shortens biology. Any clinic promising a final, permanent crown within days is describing a temporary. See same-day teeth and the healing timeline.
“Is my socket wall intact on the CT scan?” “Is there infection at the root tip?” “Will you graft the gap around the implant?” “If primary stability is inadequate on the day, will you graft and wait instead?”
The right answer to the last question is yes. A surgeon willing to abandon the immediate plan mid-procedure is one worth having.
