What a Guarantee Should Actually Cover
A meaningful guarantee names the restoration, the period, and the conditions. Typical terms in reputable clinics are around 2–5 years on implants (sometimes lifetime on the implant fixture itself), and shorter, defined periods on crowns, veneers and prosthetics, which are wearing components.
Ask for it in writing before you pay, and ask what “covered” means in practice: replacement of the restoration only, or also the laboratory fee, the dentist’s time, and your travel.
The Exclusions Matter More Than the Headline
Almost every warranty excludes: trauma; failure to attend check-ups; poor oral hygiene; smoking; untreated bruxism where a night guard was prescribed and not worn; and modifications made by another dentist. These are reasonable exclusions — but they are also where most disputes arise.
A “lifetime guarantee” that excludes normal wear on ceramics is, in practice, a guarantee on very little. Read the exclusions first.
What Happens If It Fails After You Fly Home?
This is the question most packages leave unanswered, and it is the one that matters. Establish in writing, before treatment:
Who assesses the problem remotely — and how quickly. Whether a local dentist may carry out an emergency stabilisation (recementing a crown, dressing a socket) and whether that cost is reimbursed. Whether the guarantee requires you to return to Türkiye for the definitive repair, and who pays for flights and accommodation if so. What documentation the clinic will supply — implant brand, batch number, ceramic type, radiographs — so any dentist in the world can treat you safely.
That last point is not optional. Without the implant brand and batch details, a local dentist cannot order matching components. Insist on receiving your full clinical records and imaging before you leave.
Routine Follow-Up With a Local Dentist
Most aftercare is ordinary dentistry: six-monthly check-ups, professional cleaning, bite checks, and radiographs at intervals your dentist decides. Any competent local dentist can provide this — it does not need to be the clinic that treated you.
Tell your local dentist what was done and give them the records. Crowned teeth still decay at the margin, and implants can develop peri-implantitis; both are far cheaper to catch early. See implant aftercare and what drives long-term success.
Questions to Ask Before You Pay
Is the guarantee written, dated and signed? What exactly is covered — restoration, laboratory, clinician time, travel? What are the exclusions? Must I return to Türkiye, and who pays? Will you supply implant brand, batch numbers and radiographs? Who do I contact, and how fast is the response?
