Hair Transplant Before and After: How to Judge Real Results
Photos sell transplants. Here is how to read them like a professional.
Why Hair Transplant Before and After Photos Mislead
Lighting, camera angle, wet versus dry hair and styling can make the same head look dramatically different. A slightly lowered chin and overhead lighting can double perceived density. This is why comparing a harshly lit “before” with a softly lit, styled “after” tells you very little about the actual surgical outcome.
Honest hair transplant before and after documentation uses the same angles, the same lighting and dry, unstyled hair in both frames.
The 12-Month, Dry-Hair Standard
Transplanted hair sheds in the first weeks, sprouts around month three and matures through month twelve. Results presented at month four or five are marketing snapshots of an unfinished process. The only fair comparison point is 12 months, photographed in daylight with dry hair — the standard we apply to all follow-up reviews at our Istanbul clinic.
Also look for crown shots, not just hairline close-ups: the crown matures slowest and reveals the true quality of planning.
Red Flags in Result Galleries
Be cautious with galleries showing only extreme transformations, results that never include a single average case, images with mismatched backgrounds or resolution between before and after, and clinics unwilling to show cases matching your hair type — colour, thickness and curl pattern change what is achievable.
A trustworthy clinic will show you realistic cases similar to yours and will explain openly why your outcome may differ, because graft survival varies from person to person.
How Estego Clinic Documents Results
Every patient is photographed with a standard protocol before surgery and at each online follow-up through month twelve. During your free analysis, we show you cases with hair characteristics similar to yours from Istanbul and Izmir — and give you a realistic, written expectation rather than a promise.
