Unhappy with a previous transplant, or planning a second procedure for more density? Learn how repair transplants fix unnatural results, when a second session makes sense, and what is possible.
A repair transplant corrects problems from a previous procedure — an unnatural hairline, pluggy grafts, wrong angles or scarring. A second transplant simply adds more density or covers a new area as hair loss progresses. Both are common, and with an experienced surgeon a disappointing first result can usually be transformed.
A straight, too-low or pluggy hairline redesigned to look natural.
Grafts placed at poor angles can be refined or redistributed.
Thin or see-through areas filled in for a fuller result.
Over-harvested donor areas or strip scars camouflaged where possible.
Timing matters. You should wait until your first transplant has fully matured — usually 12 months — before judging the result or planning more work. The surgeon also checks that your donor area still has enough capacity, since it is a finite resource. See our donor area guide.

Most poor results can be significantly improved, but how much depends on remaining donor capacity and any scarring. This is why choosing the right clinic the first time matters so much — read how to choose a safe clinic. A free assessment of your photos will tell you honestly what is achievable.
