A denture that clicks onto 2–4 implants — no slipping, no adhesive paste, no covered palate.
Implant supported dentures — often called snap-in dentures or overdentures — are removable prostheses that click firmly onto 2–4 dental implants instead of resting loosely on the gums. Small locator, ball or bar attachments hold the denture in place, which ends the slipping, the messy adhesive pastes and, in the upper jaw, the plastic plate that covers your palate and dulls the taste of food.
At EsteGo Clinic in Istanbul (Mecidiyeköy, Şişli) we have restored smiles for more than 15 years and treated over 40,000 patients from 47+ countries — many of them long-term denture wearers looking for exactly this upgrade. Below you will find how snap-in dentures work, who they suit, how many implants you actually need, and what they honestly cost compared with the UK and the US.

The principle is simple: 2–4 titanium implants are placed in the jawbone and, once healed, act as anchors. Your denture is fitted with matching sockets on its underside, so it snaps on with an audible click and comes off only when you deliberately pull it out for cleaning.
There are two main attachment systems. Locator or ball (stud) attachments are individual snap connectors on each implant — economical, easy to repair and the most common choice. A bar attachment joins the implants with a milled metal bar that the denture clips onto, spreading chewing forces more evenly; it costs more but is very stable, especially in soft bone.
Either way, the denture no longer relies on suction or paste. Studies consistently show chewing efficiency roughly doubles compared with a conventional lower denture, and most patients say speaking and laughing in company finally feel safe again.
The typical candidate is a long-term denture wearer whose jawbone has shrunk over the years, so the old denture rocks, rubs and needs relining ever more often. Because only 2–4 implants are needed and they sit in the front of the jaw where bone is usually strongest, most denture wearers qualify without bone grafting.
They are also the logical middle option on a budget: clearly more stable than a classic removable denture, but significantly cheaper than a fixed full-arch bridge. If you are still weighing up single implants against a plate, our guide to dental implants vs dentures covers that decision in detail. Heavy smokers, uncontrolled diabetics and patients on certain bone medications need an individual assessment first — which is exactly what our free analysis is for.
Lower jaw: two implants are the scientifically accepted minimum standard. The lower denture is the one that floats and shifts the most, and two locator attachments in the chin area transform it. Four implants add extra retention and allow a horseshoe design with less plastic bulk.
Upper jaw: at least four implants are required. Upper bone is softer, and only with four anchors can the denture be made without the full palate plate — restoring taste and comfort. Two implants in the upper jaw are not sufficient and reputable clinics will not offer it.
During planning we take a 3D CT scan, measure bone volume and recommend the smallest number of implants that will give you a reliably stable result — not the largest package we can sell.
Both solutions restore a full arch on implants; the difference is that an overdenture is removable and All-on-4 dental implants carry a fixed bridge that only a dentist can remove. All-on-4 feels closest to natural teeth, has no palate coverage, and offers the highest chewing power — but it costs roughly twice as much.
The overdenture fights back in practical ways: it is far easier to clean because you take it out and brush it over the sink; hygiene under a fixed bridge demands more dexterity. It replaces lost gum tissue with a natural-looking flange, which often gives better lip support in patients with advanced bone loss. And repairs are simpler and cheaper. If your budget allows and you never want to take teeth out at night, All-on-4 wins; if value, easy hygiene and lip support matter most, the snap-in denture is the smarter buy.

Visit one (2–4 days): 3D scan, blood tests and implant placement under local anaesthesia or sedation — the surgery itself takes about an hour. You leave with a softly relined temporary denture so you are never without teeth. Visit two, after 2–3 months of healing (osseointegration): the attachments are connected and a brand-new denture is made and fitted over 5–7 days. Many patients can even have their existing, well-fitting denture from Turkey converted with snap housings instead.
EsteGo treatment packages include VIP airport transfer, hotel accommodation, all medication and a 12-month follow-up, so the price you are quoted is the price you pay.
Care is refreshingly simple: click the denture out after meals or at least twice daily, brush it and the attachment heads, and leave it out (or in cleaning solution) overnight to let the gums rest. The small nylon clips inside the denture wear with use and are swapped in minutes for a few euros — plan on once every 6–18 months.
Expect an adjustment week for speech and eating, after which most patients return to apples, steak and crusty bread with confidence. With good hygiene the implants themselves can last decades; the denture body typically serves 7–10 years before renewal.
In Turkey, a 2-implant snap-in denture for the lower jaw costs about €1,900–€3,000 all-inclusive, and a 4-implant version for either jaw around €3,000–€4,800. The same treatment is typically £6,000–£14,000 in the UK and 10,000–25,000 dollars in the US — a 60–70% saving even after flights and hotel, largely thanks to lower operating costs in Turkey, not lower material quality; we use the same premium implant brands.

Implant supported dentures combine the stability of dental implants with the affordability of a full-arch denture. Because implant supported dentures anchor onto two to four implants, they do not slip while eating or speaking, and chewing power comes close to natural teeth. At EsteGo Clinic in Istanbul, implant supported dentures are planned digitally and placed by experienced implant surgeons — with an online assessment before you commit.
